Need less to say, I was very excited that Barack Obama was elected president last month. That was a good night, although the outcome of prop 8 in California dampened it a bit. My Husband and I were both sitting in front of the TV and watched his acceptance speech in front of a few hundred thousand people, and we knew that we were witnessing history. We knew that 50 years from now we would be still able to recall his historic address. So waht was my first response after the speech? What the hell is Michelle wearing? My husband agreed as well. I called my Green Party/Red State sister after the speech. I asked what she thought of the speech. Her response, what was Michelle wearing??
Michelle, I am so excited that you will be in the White House soon and that we are finally starting a new day, but please find yourself a gay or two who can check you before you go out in public. You are a new style icon and while I admire that you like to shop at J Crew and Banana Republic. It would not kill anyone to have some coutoure back in the White House, it has been a pretty off the rack building for the last 20 years or so.
Womens Wear Daily has a slideshow with a few ideas from major designers who have not necessarily been asked to submit anything to Michelle for an inaugaration dress. I like the Karl Lagerfeld and the Michael Kors most of all
